Memorial

On July 4th, 2022, during the annual Independence Day parade, a mass shooting claimed the lives of seven people and wounded forty-eight more in Highland Park, Illinois.  Jon grew up in Highland Park, raised his kids there, and his parents still live there today.

In MEMORIAL, he explores the impact of that event on his community and the transformative power of a spontaneous memorial that was created in its wake. This lyrical, meditative short film captures the raw emotion and resilience that emerge from tragedy, weaving together personal narratives and captivating visuals to create a profound and reflective cinematic experience.
